About the ADCIS Directory

Description

The ADCIS Directory provides access to detailed information on a broad range of community, government and health services throughout the state of Tasmania in Australia.

The information in the Directory is designed primarily to help anyone in the community, including family members, service providers and health professionals find out about services that can assist either aged people, people with disabilities or carers (often referred to as the Home and Community Care (HACC) target groups). The types of services listed include:

  • health and support services
  • social and recreational services
  • educational facilities and opportunities
  • transport services and options
  • government services and benefits
  • accommodation/respite options
  • assessment and rehabilitation, and
  • emergency services

Scope

Content

Primarily, the services and organisations listed are those that have been established to assist members of one or more of the Home and Community Care (HACC) target groups.

The approach in building the Directory, however, has been to include a broad range of community services (not just those specifically, or only, for its target groups) that can contribute to the lives and wellbeing of older people, people with disabilities and carers.

As such the Directory lists organisations and services of use to many members of the community.

Geographic Area Covered

The ADCIS Directory provides information on organisations and services situated in, or servicing the state of Tasmania in Australia. For information on Tasmania, please have a look at the following sites:

Tasmania Online
Interactive Tour of Tasmania

In some cases, such as where the Directory holds details on Commonwealth services, information is relevant for the whole of Australia.

If you are seeking details on services in other states of Australia, there are more than 60 Commonwealth Carelink Centres around the country that can provide information on services in their local area.

Using the ADCIS Directory

To use the Internet version of the ADCIS Directory, you can use either the:

Search page where you can build your own searches to look for organisations and services either by their name, or by their area of specialisation or the kind of services they offer, or the:

QuickLink Topics pages where we have a range of frequently needed searches "pre-packaged". Here you will find organised groups of links that retrieve information out of the database for you, arranged under useful topics, such as Accommodation, Respite, and Transport, etc.

For assistance in using the Directory have a look at the Help pages where there are details about how to use the Search page efficiently.

Maintenance

Updates to Organisation Details

New Organisations and Services

We check local newspapers and network with other organisations in the sector and funding bodies so that we can keep track of new organisations and services.

If you are starting a new service, or know of a service that is not already in the Directory that you think could be included, please contact us.

There are no fees or charges for inclusion in the ADCIS Directory. Please be aware though that the Directory is not an advertising tool. It is a resource provided as a community service offering details on organisations and services available for its target groups. The selection of content for inclusion in the Directory is entirely at the discretion of the editors.

Posting of Updates

At present, updates are posted to the Internet version of the ADCIS Directory on a weekly basis.
The CD-ROM version of the Directory is issued twice a year.
