Council on the Ageing

The Aged and Disability Care Information Service is auspiced by the Council on the Ageing (Tasmania) Inc.

Council on the Ageing (Tas) is an independent, membership based non-profit organisation run by older people for older people. COTA (Tas) advocates for and on behalf of older people to Government, other agencies and the media. It is a member of the COTA Over 50s Alliance.

Home and Community Care Program (HACC)

The Aged and Disability Care Information Service is funded through the Home and Community Care Program.

The Home and Community Care Program is jointly financed by Commonwealth and State Governments to fund agencies to provide home care and community based services for frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers, so that they can remain in the comfort and security of their own home and community for as long as possible, avoiding inappropriate residential care and improving their quality of life.

Commonwealth Carelink Centres

Commonwealth Carelink Centres are a Commonwealth initiative aimed at promoting greater collaboration in care planning for older people and people with disabilities through the establishment of crucial links between the health and community care sectors.

More than 60 Commonwealth Carelink Centres have been established in the 53 Home and Community Care (HACC) regions throughout Australia and are connected through a single 1800 telephone number.
